Police in Portland, Oregon, say that 23-year-old nanny Kristin Marie Jones left a 3-year-old and a 1-month-old in a van on a 90-degree day in May while she went to a tanning salon. No windows on the van were even cracked, and if not for the cries of the children, police might not have made it to the scene in time to rescue the children. An officer at the scene said the 3-year-old was covered in sweat after he was rescued, and that he could feel heat radiating off the toddler even through his bulletproof vest.
