Open Your Heart to the Hungry and Homeless brings  a new approach to Hunger Awareness Month (September) with their new $100,000 food shelf challenge grant.
This project will be more than a grant to food shelves – it will be a statewide initiative that will leverage OYH funding to bring additional dollars to food shelves and increase awareness of hunger within our state.
The challenge funds will be a proportional match with the minimum grant being $250.00.  Grant funds will enable the Watonwan County Food Shelf to obtain food to distribute to those in need and raise awareness of hunger and the needs of hungry families in our community. More information in the Sept. 2 Plaindealer
