The Highway 4 construction project has been looming over the heads of St. James residents for some time now, and on April 3 the construction will begin.
The construction will start at the intersection of 1st Avenue South and 7th Street South. The project that will be tackled in 2017 will be from that intersection all the wat to Westin Avenue on the north side of SuperFair Foods.

The first part of the Highway 4 project will  cover the business section, from 6th Avenue South to 2nd Avenue South. The contractor has estimated that this will be finished at some point in August. If all goes according to plan, in May, work will begin from 2nd Avenue South to 7th Avenue South with completion in September. After the Watonwan County Fair is finished in July, work will start from 7th Avenue South to 10th Avenue South.
