The Watonwan County Court House was full of people and emotions on Tuesday, July 11th as the friends and family of David Pettersen and Nicolas Embertson who was shot and killed in January by David Pettersen. Embertson was a Madelia resident and 19 years old at the time of his death. There was no trial from the incident that took place but instead there was a negotiated plea bargain agreement that was made. Instead of being charged with manslaughter Pettersen agreed to plea guilty to wreakless endangerment with a firearm. 3 men were outside Pettersen’s property when Pettersen woke up and realized that they were outside. Eventually the three boys tried to escape but Pettersen who shot 3 times at the car eventually killed Embertson.
