The St. James 16 and under softball team blew away the competition in the Fairmont softball tournament, winning 4 out of 4 games. The tournament started with the first game against an unfamiliar team Medford as St. James won 6 to 2. “Our first game was at 8:30am vs Medford. We didn’t know much about the team prior to the tournament. Callie Coleman was the winning pitcher this game. She really did great and used the defense when needed. She totaled 8 strikeouts in 6 innings allowing only 4 hits. Our bats sure were hot for that early in the morning. In the 1st inning Renata Hernandez had a great drag bunt to get on base, followed by Callie Coleman getting a single. With 2 girls on Brooklyn Mickelson stepped up and crushed a home run off the very first pitch,.” said head coach Averie Barrett.
