People from near and far gathered to First Avenue in St. James last Thursday for the big day that people have been The Roundabout Rodeo had two major goals behind it. The first goal was to promote the local businesses that have been struggling with the road construction. The struggles come from not having a steady flow of traffic traveling through the main part of First Avenue South. Also with the construction there has been many things that have caused confusion and inconvenienced patrons. Lack of parking, not knowing how to get into a store because of construction.
The Roundabout Rodeo was the perfect way for businesses to promote themselves and to gain patrons again especially once the construction is completed. Some of the local businesses had specials especially the restaurants in the area which allowed the crowds of people an opportunity to have an even better experience at the rodeo. St. James Chamber Interim Director Joe McCabe said “It was fantastic we had 671 people who registered at 19 businesses. We will be inquiring with the various businesses to see if they are interested in doing the same thing next year at the grand opening and ribbon cutting which will mark the end of the project.”
