St. James homecoming week was concluded with the homecoming game against Luverne in Sleepy eye. St. James shuttled students to the game in school buses, and the turnout for the game was fantastic; students of all ages from St. James were in attendance. The St. James band also made an appearance at the game, and played during halftime from the sidelines. Luverne won the game after an early lead, and won the game 40-12. The game started rough with 4 fumbles in the first quarter, and 21 points off of turnovers for Luverne. St. James brought the battle back to them in the second half, slowing their advance and taking a touchdown from an incredible play with a long double pass. Cole Durheim managed to run 102 yards with four kick returns and two receptions in the game, and Jacob Brey got 54 rushing yards, and threw 82 yards, including the highlight of the game for the Saints, with Jacob Brey’s pass going long to Parker Jones for their touchdown for the game. While St. James didn’t win the game, they definitely showed their pride, with an incredible turnout of students at Sleepy eye football field, and marked the end of homecoming week by supporting their football team. St. James last home game of the season is this Saturday at 1 in New Ulm, and will be facing off against Windom.
