After a hard fought season the 2017 St. James Area Volleyball team celebrated with a banquet at the First Lutheran Church Social Hall on Thursday, November 2. During the banquet there were many awards that were handed out as the coaches and players reflected on their season.

Each coach gave a speech C team coach Lauren Colier had an award for each of the players. B team coach Kristen Aiden reflected on the season by giving a little speech about each of the players and also gave each of the players a end of the season gift. Varsity head coach Steve Chapin reflected on the season by going week by week explaining the different events that happened during the season.

Head Coach Steve Chapin made the statement that the 2017 team was the best academic team in the history of the program. The 2017 team as a whole had over a 3.9 gpa and earned the All State Academic award. Many of the Lady Saints received academic team awards including 5 Lady Saints who were named Academic All State. Earning all state honors which requires having a 3.8 gpa or higher were Alyssa Anderson, Jadyn Anderson, Callie Coleman, Kayla Hanson and Brooklyn Mickelson. The Lady Saints were also honored with earning “gold status” for team academics. The team’s overall gpa was 3.9265.
