St. James Police Department’s Assistant Police Chief Rochelle Hanson returned to work on Thursday on a part time basis while she transitions back after being placed on Standard Administrative Leave after she fired her service weapon in an officer involved shooting at the local Casey’s leading to the death of Gilberto Salas.

While no formal press release has been made at this time mainly because Eisfeld explained that Minnesota has no statue in place saying when an officer can return to duty after an officer involved shooting.

He explained that Standard Administrative Leave isn’t any kind of disciplinary situation but instead meant for the officer and community to have time separate from each other right after an incident like the one that occurred earlier in St. James.

Eisfeld said that he made the decision to have Hanson come back on a transition basis after examining the situation and made the decision that she was ready to come back.

At this time the BCA confirmed that the investigation is still ongoing.
