With the upcoming election in November and with recent elected officials announcing that they will not be seeking re election many eyes will be on the November election this year.
Last Tuesday was the final day that candidates could file for office. After the filing period came and went there will be two contested races. T
he two contested races will come from County Commissioner Seat for the 4th District. Bob Rinne will be facing off against long time incumbent Scott Sanders in that race. The other contested race in Watonwan County will come from the County Recorder position which was occupied for many years by Joy Sing who will not be seeking re election this year.
Facing off in that race will be Karla Doll and Raymond (Randy) Gustafson.
In non contested races Kelly Pauling will be running unopposed for County Auditor/ Treasurer after being appointed to finish Don Kuhlman’s term after he retired. Steve Lindee will be seeking re election again for County Attorney running unopposed. After longtime Sheriff Gary Menssen announced that he would not be seeking re election all eyes turned to see who would run for the position. In that race Jared Bergeman will be running unopposed. In the County Commissioner 2nd District current St. James employee Bill Miller will be running for that seat. Also running for office in Watonwan County will be Rich Enger who is running for the Soil and Water Supervisor position for District 2.
