St. James Police Department confirms death of Joyce Ann Engelbrecht this afternoon.

Moments ago the St. James Police Department sent out a press release confirming the death of Joyce Ann Engelbrecht.
"On Monday, June 18, 2018 at 2:45 p.m. the St. James Police Department was informed by the Olmsted County Medical Examiner that Joyce Ann Engelbrecht has died."
The St. James Police Department released the following press release at 1:30 p.m.
The St. James Police Department arrested Scott Francis Engelbrecht DOB/ 12-30-58 (age 59) for the murder of Rachel Elaine Linder (DOB 08/07/74, age 43) and the attempted murder of Joyce Ann Engelbrecht (03-03-51, age 67)
On Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 5:41 p.m., the St. James Police Department received an emergency 911 call to the residence of 1124 1st Ave S in St. James. The caller reported that his grandfather shot his grandmother with a gun.
Upon arrival to the residence, the responding officer found Scott Francis Engelbrecht. Engelbrecht who was carrying a .22 caliber rifle at the time of the arrest was taken into custody without incident.
The victim, Joyce Ann Engelbrecht, appeared to suffer from a gunshot wound and is the wife of the arrested suspect. Joyce was taken to Mayo-St. James Health Services, and then flown out to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester. She is listed in critical condition but is not expected to survive the incident.
The second victim, Rachel Elaine Linder’s death was ruled to be a homicide due to a gunshot wound. Linder was found deceased on the front steps of a neighboring house at 1120 1st Ave S. Law Enforcement has learned that Linder is the daughter of Joyce Engelbrecht from a previous marriage.
Scott Engelbrecht is being held on charges of 2nd degree murder in the Watonwan County jail with formal charges pending from Watonwan County Attorney’s office.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting with the investigation, along with the Watonwan County Sheriff’s Office and the Madelia Police Department.
