Less than a week after a fire occurred in Darfur, Minnesota the Watonwan County Sheriff's Office posted on Facebook Thursday morning asking providing an update about the incident.
On August 24, 2018 at approximately 7:57 pm, the Watonwan County Sheriff’s Office and the Darfur Fire Department were called to 30041 660th Ave for a structure fire. The vacant building was a total loss. Officials determined that the fire was intentionally set. The Watonwan County Sheriff’s Office, Darfur Fire Department and the State Fire Marshal continue to investigate the fire and are asking for the public’s help with any information about the fire. A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information leading to the identification of the persons responsible.

The Plaindealer was also given information by Darfur's Fire Chief last Saturday.
There were contents in the building but no dollar amount set on anything.
There is no electricity in the building so it is unsure at this time if the cause of the fire was lightning or something else.
