For 36 years Dan “DT” Trullinger had a love for playing ball.

Whether it was baseball in high school or adult softball where he played for numerous different teams as a adult.

That’s why it was fitting last year only a few months after his passing that the La Salle Softball Team decided to raise money during their annual fundraiser to help start a memorial scholarship fund in his memory.

Asides from a love for softball and baseball Dan was someone remembered by his family as a fun guy with a great sense of humor and also described as someone who was witty.

His family also described him as someone who had a great attitude.

On his desk at work  at Crystal Valley and at home he had a note that he written about Attitude which stated the following:

Give thanks for each day

Count your personal blessings

Do a good deed without telling anyone

Forgive an old hurt

Ask to be forgiven

Appreciate your belongings

Compliment someone

Admire the view

Donate something

Volunteer to help the needy

Sing a song

Smile

In a letter written to Dan’s parents  by one of Dan’s employees after Dan’s death described the privilege he was to work with while at Crystal Valley.

“He was one of the most honest, sincere, caring, organized, funny and hardworking bosses I ever had the privilege to work for. I have had several bosses during my career and Dan by far was not only my favorite, but the best at his job.”

The letter would go on to say “ My sincere hope is that you will find comfort in the kind words and stories you will hear about Dan in the coming days. Treasure those stories and hold them close to your hearts. When the pain feels overwhelming, go back and remember all those wonderful stories you heard and be proud of the man you raised. I hope you cling to each other and to your faith and help each other through these difficult days. Thank you for raising a wonderful son. We are all better people because we got the chance to know him.”

Dan’s family said that they are very grateful for last year’s tournament and for all the support from those that knew Dan.
