The St. James Area girls tennis team continued their dream season, winning the team sectional finals.
The team beat Pipestone Senior High 6-1 in the semi final to reach the finals. St. James swept the singles against Pipestone, with Renata Hernandez, (6-2, 6-1) Zoie Becker, (6- 1, 6-2) Ellie Becker, (6-1, 6-0) and Luci Kulseth (6- 2, 6-0) all winning convincingly over their opponents. In doubles play, Hannah Loewen and Jaelyn Haler won first doubles, 6-3, 6-0. Miranda Tetzloff and Noel Westcott fell in second doubles, 6-3, 6-0. Gabriela Trapero and Mya Hanson wrapped up third doubles with a 6-0, 6-0 victory.
In the final, the Saints edged Blue Earth Area4- 3. St. James and Blue Earth split the singles rounds, with Renata Hernandez (6-0, 6-1) and Zoie Becker (6-2, 6-1) winning first and second doubles, respectively. Ellie Becker (6-3, 4-6, 7-5) and Luci Kulseth (6- 2, 2-6, 6-2) fell in a couple of hard fought matches in third and fourth doubles, respectively. In doubles, Hannah Loewen and Jaelyn Haler picked up a victory over Maddie McCleary and Carissa Engesser. In second doubles, Miranda Tetzloff and Noel Westcott lost to Sydney Blagg and Britt Howard, 6-2, 7-6.
With the victory, the Saints qualified for the Minnesota State High School League State tournament, which starts on October 23rd
