Linda Hackett and Mary Wright are unemployed and were looking for ways they could be involved in doing volunteer work. Along came the devastating earthquake in Haiti over two weeks ago. Hackett and Wright made a phone call to Kids Against Hunger in Mankato. The two St. James residents (Wright lives in Mankato and is originally from St. James) now find themselves helping Kids For Hunger Mankato stage a fund raiser for the organization called “Hearts for Haiti.”
The event is to be held at the Mankato State University Ballroom, the Centennial, February 28th beginning at 5 p.m.

The admission will cover the cost of one meal for one child in Haiti for one year. “It will begin with a social hour followed by dinner, special speakers, a live auction and a dance,” said Wright. Jason Davis, host of the television show, “On The Road,” will host the event. Tickets for the fund raiser can be obtained at South Central College in Mankato or at both Mankato Cub Foods locations. Locally tickets may be purchased by calling Linda Hackett at 1-507-380-0047 or at 375-7575.
