Railroad Days Steam into St. James

    Summer hasn’t officially arrived yet (June 21), but kids are out of school and not far behind Railroad Days will be steaming into St. James. Always one of the big events of summer in this “neck of the woods”, Railroad Days has plenty of great fun for everyone from the youngest to the oldest.
    The Plaindealer  likes to give you a preview of what is happening during Railroad Days, so climb on board and let’s take a trip down the track and see what’s in store June 22-28.
•Station #1-June 22/Monday
The Railroad Days celebration begins with the Taste of St. James,  Railroad tickets, clothing and souvenirs on sale at the VFW from 5-7 p.m. Clothing and souvenir items will include hats, caps, tee-shirts, hooded sweatshirts, drink coaster and “koozies”
 “”Imagineering,” a magic show for the kids will be at the Library.
•Station  #2 & #3-June 23, 24/Tuesday, Wednesday
The St. James High School track is the scene of Summer Track and Field beginning at 6 p.m.
“Art” Attack from 10.a.m. to 12 noon at the St. James Library and
“Friends of the Library” begin a four-day book sale starting at 10 a.m.
Storytime for kids will  begin at 10 a.m.
•Station #4-June 25/Thursday
Thursday is  a big day for the Railroad event. The Railroad Museum opens from 7-9 p.m., The Model Railroad Club opens it’s doors at 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The Beer Garden and Food stands will be serving roast beef sandwiches, 1/4 pound Johnsville brats with sauerkraut and chips starting at 6 p.m.  Highlights today include The Rail Run beginning in the Depot area and around St. James Lake. First off  the block is the Kid’s Half-Mile at 7 p.m.
Adults will take part in the Four-Mile walk at 7:30 p.m. The one-mile run and four-mile run are open to everyone and begin at 7:30 and 7:45 p.m.  Children’s Theater opens at 7:p.m. in the Little Theater with a performance of “Big Bad” directed by Michael Wojtalewicz.
