Leroy "Lee" Heslekrants, 81, of Hayesville, N.C. and formerly of St. James and Davie, Fla. passed away on Nov. 25, 2016 from a long battle with cancer.
Leroy "Lee" Heslekrants, 81, of Hayesville, N.C. and formerly of St. James and Davie, Fla. passed away on Nov. 25, 2016 from a long battle with cancer. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and forever friend to all who knew him. The funeral is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017, at 12 noon at Christ the King Church, 145 North Main Street, Hiawassee, GA 30546. The family asks in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Christ the King Church.
Lee served in the Army in charge of the NIKE Nuclear sites. He was a Mason, and a member of the American Legion. He had a passion for all cars, always looking for car shows and collectables, Ford being his favorite. Lee loved racing stock cars and being part of the Hot Rod Power Tour each year, seven cities in seven days, with his son Robert (Bob) in his ’65 red mustang convertible. In 2016 that encompassed 10 states, and was an amazing trip. He loved motorcycling with friends in the mountains with overnight camping. He enjoyed long trips with family and friends in his motor home. Lee loved life and lived it to the fullest.
He was a man of integrity, honor and strength. Lee joins his wife of 60 years, Florence (Toupi) Heslekrants, in heaven. Lee is survived by his children: Florada and husband, Michael Richards; Mary Briggs; Robert and wife, Natalie Heslekrants; Jon and wife, Linda Heslekrants; and Dee and husband, Kelly Wallace. Lee leaves behind 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
