Brenda Lea Meyer, 63, died May 21, 2017 in Sioux Falls, S.D. at the Avera-McKennan Hospital. A Celebration of Life Service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 26 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mountain Lake with Pastor Peter Kufahl officiating. Burial will be at later date in the Butterfield Cemetery in Butterfield. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 25 at the LaCanne Family Funeral Home in Windom and also for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Funeral arrangements are under the care of the LaCanne Family Funeral Service in Windom. Memorials are preferred to the CARE committee at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Mt. Lake. Condolences can be sent online to: with Pastor Peter Kufahl officiating. Interment will be held at the Butterfield Cemetery at a later date.

Brenda was born Jan. 18, 1954, in Comfrey to Marvin Arthur and Iris LaVonne (Amsden) Bottin. She was baptized at Stately Township, Comfrey and later confirmed at the American Lutheran Church in Windom. Brenda received her early education at Winfair Elementary in Windom and graduated from the Windom Area High School in the Class of 1972. She then furthered her education at the Rochester Technical College where she received a degree in Psychiatric Tech and then her LPN degree in 1977. In the early 1990s, she attended Worthington Community College in Worthington and received her RN degree and later her Master’s in Business. On Sept. 1, 1979, Brenda was united in marriage to Thomas Lee Meyer at the American Lutheran Church in Windom. After marriage, they lived in Butterfield up until the present time. For the past 40 years, Brenda had worked at Preferred ResidentialLifestyles/Home for Creative Living as their home care administrator. On Sunday, May 21, Brenda became suddenly ill while in Sioux Falls, S.D. and was hospitalized at the Avera-McKennan Hospital. She passed away there that evening at the age of 63 years. Brenda was a longtime, dedicated member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Mt. Lake where she was an usher, a member of the altar guild, on the prayer chain, a member of the CARE Committee, on several other boards and helped out wherever needed. She also was involved in her community as a member of the Butterfield Community Club, ARC and the chair of the Mayo Clinic Health Systems of St. James (community development committee). She will be remembered for her love of kids and cardinals.

Brenda is survived by her husband of 37 years, Thomas Meyer of Butterfield; mother, Bonnie Bottin of Windom; brothers and sisters, Mike (Sally) Bottin of Madelia; Doug (Staci) Bottin of Madelia; sisters-in-law, Pat (Ole) Strand of Bloomington; Mary Sprint of Mankato; Alice Sorenson of Richfield; 21 nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and nephews. Brenda is preceded in death by her father, Marvin Bottin. Blessed be the memory of Brenda Meyer.
