Vince and Verna moved out to the family farm and farmed with Vince's dad (John and Margaret Flatau). Vince and Verna then moved to a farm North of St. James and farmed there for a few years. It was then their daughter, Sharon, was born, Feb 11, 1946. As Vince's dad's health deteriorated, his parents moved to St. James, and Vince and Verna took over the family farm, as he was the only son. Vince and Verna farmed together, helping each other on the farm with milking cows, pigs, chickens, ducks, cats, dog, crops, hay baling, and vegetable and flower gardening. Vince died Feb. 3, 1998. Verna stayed on the farm, continuing with her gardening. She loved working outside.
