Minora Evelyn Wedge, 98, of St. James, was called to her eternal rest Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 15, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Society-Pleasant View in St. James.

Minora Evelyn Wedge, 98, of St. James, was called to her eternal rest Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 15, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Society-Pleasant View in St. James. A Celebration of Life Service was 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 18 at First Lutheran Church, St. James, with Pastor Bob Stover officiating. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery in St. Jame. Minora was born Oct. 14, 1918 to Emil and Eleanora (Kaushagen) Olson in Windom. She was baptized Nov. 28, 1918 in Windom and later confirmed on May 22, 1932. Minora attended Comfrey school until attending school in Windom, graduating with the class of 1937. On Jan. 11, 1942, she was united in marriage to Everett W. Wedge in Windom. After their marriage, they lived in St. James where they raised their family. Minora was employed for JCPenney and Montgomery Ward in St. James for several years. They enjoyed spending time in Florida in the Tampa and Ocala area for many years. Everett was called to his eternal rest on June 18, 1990. She continued living in St. James until becoming a resident of Pleasant View Good Samaritan Center on July 25, 2014. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and its church circle and was treasurer of the Ladies Aid. Minora was Chairman of Memorial Garden and Church council at her church in Ocala, Fla. She was a very active member of the Eastern Star where she was a 50-year member and was a Minnesota Representative for many years. Minora was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary in St. James. She greatly enjoyed quilting, knitting, playing cards and bingo and mahjong.

She is survived by her three children: daughter, Sandy (Bob) Friesen of St. James, son, Dennis (Barbara) Wedge of Hutchinson, daughter, Linda Ann (Keith) Holte of Lawton, Okla; nine grandchildren: Lisa “Downs” Kohn, Darci DePoppe, Renae “Friesen” Garcia, Jill Kozitza, Cory Wedge, Robert Connelly, Justin Mann, Kristen Trebil-Halbersma, Nicole Lovald; 24 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; brother, Arnie (Delores) Olson of Windom, and sister, Janice “Olson” Schottle of Grand Rapids; nieces and nephews and other relatives. Minora was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Everett Wedge; grandson, Tony Holte; brothers, Harold and Everett “Bud” Olson and other relatives.
