Roger Duane Nordhausen, 81, of rural Sherburn was called to his eternal rest on Thursday morning, Sept. 28, 2017 at Good Samaritan Society in St. James.
Roger Duane Nordhausen, 81, of rural Sherburn was called to his eternal rest on Thursday morning, Sept. 28, 2017 at Good Samaritan Society in St. James. A Celebration of Life Service was held 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 2 at the United Methodist Church in Trimont with Pastor Stephanie Christoffels officiating. Roger was born May 16, 1936 to August and Freda (Stamp) Nordhausen in Cedar Township, Martin County. He was baptized at home and later confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Kimball Township. He received his education in the Trimont area. He lived and worked in the Trimont area where he met Shirley Ann Walters and later was married on Oct. 14, 1956 in Alpha. After their marriage, they lived in Sherburn until moving to a farm in Cedar Township, rural Odin, where he worked for the Ronald Anderson family for several years and raised three wonderful children. Shirley died on Dec. 19, 1987. Later he moved off the farm in Cedar Township where he continued to stay active by doing multiple outdoor endeavors for his livelihood. In the mid 1990s, he moved to rural Sherburn to live and work where he met Wanda Hanson and later was married on May 15, 1999 at the United Methodist Church in Trimont. After their marriage, they lived in rural Sherburn where they enjoyed camping, fishing, dancing and spending time with their families.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Nordhausen of rural Sherburn; his children: daughter, Marla Larson (John Harding) of Zimmerman; son, Kyle Nordhausen and wife, Heather, of St. James; and daughter, Karina Palmquist and husband, Troy, of Goodyear, Ariz.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three step-sons: Rodney Hanson of Sherburn, Todd Hanson and his wife, Laurie, of Nisswa, and Brian Hanson (Allie Jordan) of Brainerd; 11 step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren; sister, Lorraine Carlson of Trimont; brothers, Coleman (Judy) Nordhausen of Detroit Lakes and Fred Nordhausen of Butterfield; sisters-in-law, Margaret Nordhausen of Elk River, Maxine Walters of Windom; brother-in-law, Jerry Peters of Dunnell; nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Roger was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley; one grandson; one step-grandson; brothers, Gordon and Keith Nordhausen; sister, Shirley Mekosch and other relatives.
