Darlene Olson 71, of St. James entered her heavenly home on Sunday, April 15, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer at Mayo Clinic Health System-Mankato. Services will be 11a.m., Friday, April 20, at Albion Lutheran Church of rural St. James with Rev. Bob Springer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. You may send the family condolences online at www.sturmfh.com. Arrangements are with Sturm Funeral Home in St. James. The family would prefer memorials in lieu of flowers. Darlene was a shining example of faith, family, selflessness, humility, and strength. No amount of time with her would have been enough. We will treasure her memory always.

Darlene Irene (Voges) Olson was born Aug. 31, 1946, to George and Irene (Wilking) Voges. She grew up in rural Courtland, attended Immanuel Lutheran School and graduated from Nicollet High School. She married Keith Olson on Oct. 7, 1967 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. They made their first home in Madelia and later moved to Godahl where they farmed together and raised their three children. Darlene was thankful to remain on the family farm until God called her home. Darlene worked at the Godahl Store for over 40 years and was a tireless supporter of the Godahl community. She loved farm life and enjoyed raising chickens, gardening, canning, and any outdoor work. Darlene faithfully served her church and generously cared for others.
