Esther Anderson 94, of Odin, Minnesota, was called to her eternal rest on Friday morning, May 25, 2018 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, June 1, at Kramer Family Funeral Home in Trimont and one hour prior to the services at the Church on Saturday. A Celebration of Life Services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, June 2, at Zion Lutheran Church in Odin, with Rev. Carla Reierson Officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in rural Odin. Esther Josephine Olson Anderson was born on July 5, 1923 to Osmer and Alma Christine (Bjorkman) Olson in Odin. She was baptized on Aug. 12, 1923 and confirmed on Oct. 24, 1937 at Zion Lutheran Church in Odin. Esther attended school in Odin until the 8th grade and received her Diploma on July 1, 1937 from St. James Public School. She received her Honorary High School Diploma from Butterfield-Odin Public School in Sept. 2016. On March 17, 1946 she was united in marriage to Richard E. Anderson at Zion Lutheran Church in Odin. They were married for 48 years until Richard’s death on Dec. 2, 1994. They had four daughters. She continued living in Odin and taught piano lessons in her home. She was employed at the Trimont Nursing Home for seventeen years. In 2006 she moved to Trimont and in 2017 she moved to Fairmont. Esther was a life long member of Zion Lutheran Church in Odin where she was the church organist and helped neighboring churches out by providing music. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church Ladies Aid or (WELCA) and Luther League. She was an Auxiliary member of the American Legion, VFW and DAV. Esther made many knit helmet caps and blankets, for soldiers and veterans. She made many rugs, booties, scrubies and lefse for people in the community. She also crocheted infant caps and blankets for preemie babies for nonprofit church organizations and hospitals in the United States and Mexico.

She is survived by her four daughters: Virginia (Les) Anderson of Fairmont, Catharine Meyer of Fairmont, Lynn (Jackson Buxton) Anderson of St. Paul, and Amy (Ron Melson) Anderson of Whitehall, Mont., and Butterfield; three grandchildren and spouses; six step-grandchildren and spouses; eight great-grandchildren; eleven step great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Virginia Anderson of Tucson, Ariz; and many nieces and nephews. Esther was preceded in death by her parents: Osmer and Christine Olson; husband, Richard E. Anderson; parents-in-law: Neils and Elizabeth Anderson; son-in-law, James Meyer; sisters: Mildred Olson and Eleanor Ingbritson; five brothers-in-law; three sisters-in-law and other relatives.
