Lucille Johnson 88, of St. James died on Monday, June 11, 2018 at Pleasant View Good Samaritan Society in St. James. Funeral services will be 10:30am, Monday, June 18, at First Lutheran Church in St. James with Rev. Gwen Hermanson officiating. Burial will be at Albion Lutheran Cemetery, rural St. James. Visitation will be Sunday at Sturm Funeral Home in St. James from 4 to 7p.m., and will continue at the church one hour before services on Monday. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to First Luheran Church or Albion Lutheran Cemetery. You may send the family condolences online at www.sturmfh.com. Lucille Rose Hage Johnson was born Jan. 18, 1930, in rural Hanska, to George and Rose (Miller) Hage. She attended country school and graduated from St. James High School. Lucille married Johnny Johnson at Lake Hanska Lutheran Church in 1950. They farmed in rural Hanska and Godahl before moving to St. James. She was a homemaker for several years caring for her three children. After moving to St. James, Lucille worked at the Cresent Café and Johnson Hardware. Lucille showed her love by seeing to it that everyone was well fed. She was an excellent cook and was known for her donuts, buns and lefse. Time spent with family and friends was a priority in her life. She loved doing things with and for others and was often generous beyond her means. She loved her Church family and was a very dedicated volunteer.
Lucille is survived by her son David (Pam) Johnson; daughters: Brenda (Doug) Bertilson and Debbie (Bob) Larson; granddaughters: Holly (Aaron) Lenes and Erica Bertilson; great-grandchildren: Clayton, Stella, and Amelia Lenes; sister, Mildred Hamann, sister-in-law, Lois Hage and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brothers: Harold and Willard.
