Butch L. Saunders, 91, of Trimont formerly rural Odin, was called to his eternal rest on Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 24, 2018 at Mayo Clinic Health System-St. Mary’s Campus in Rochester. A Public Visitation for Butch will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, 2018 at Kramer Family Funeral Home Chapel in Trimont. Burial will be in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Ringsted, Iowa. Butch L. Saunders was born on Jan. 11, 1927 to Onis and Anna (Andersen) Saunders in Emmet County, Ringsted, Iowa. He attended school until the 8th grade in Gruver, Iowa. Butch helped with farm work in the area and later worked in a Toy Factory in Minneapolis. He then moved to a farm in rural Odin where he was employed at Tony Downs Foods in St. James and helped on the farm. He later moved to make his home at Monterey Manor until becoming a resident of the Trimont Nursing Home, now Season’s Healthcare. Butch umpired at many softball games and enjoyed going dancing at the Fox Lake Ballroom. When he was young he had a horse and he enjoyed playing his guitar.

He is survived by his sisters: Glenna Shanley of Sun City West, Ariz., Mary Fried of Kent, Wash., and Norma (Robert) Brolsma of rural Sherburn; brother, Robert Saunders of Green Bay, Wis.; nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Butch was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers: Merle, Hershel, Herbert, Delmar and Errol Saunders; a sister, Doris “Sandy” Lambert and other relatives.
