Grace Bergum, 88, of St. James, Minnesota died on Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at Mankato House, Minnesota.
Funeral service were held on Saturday, May 16, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. at First Lutheran Church in St. James with Reverend K. Christian Johnson officiating. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery in St. James.
Visitation was held on Friday, May 15, 2009 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Sturm Funeral Home in St. James and continued for one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
Grace Rubie Jukulen was born on August 8, 1920 to Oscar and Bertha (Blackstad) Jukulen in Fairmont, Minnesota. Her mother died when she was young and she was raised by her father and step-mother Gundia Sannes. She grew up and attended country school near Godahl and later attended and graduated from St. James High School. She worked various jobs at Kadings, Ernies, S-T Industries, Tony Downs and Green Giant. She most recently worked in the kitchen at Pleasant View Good Samaritan Center in St. James.
On December 16, 1939 she married Merle Wick in St. James. He preceded her in death in 1980. On May 6, 1990 she married Louis Bergum at First Lutheran Church in St. James. He preceded her in death in 2001.
Grace was a member of First Lutheran Church in St. James. She enjoyed dancing, playing cards, painting, playing piano and spending time with family and friends. She especially enjoyed her lunch dates with her sisters.
Survivors include her children, Marris Rooney of Zephyrhills, FL, Chuck (Sheila) Wick of St. James, MN, Dennis (Linnea) Wick of Mankato, MN, Catherine Michaels of Pipestone, MN and Mary (Steve Barrie) Wick of Eden Prairie, MN; 12 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; sisters, Ora Flanagan of Mankato, MN, Florence (Don) Lewis of Lake Crystal, MN, Phyllis Mosher of Lake Crystal, MN, Amy Rose Storts of Brooklyn Center, MN and Norma (Roy) Schmidt of Onamia, MN and sister-in-law, Pat Wick of Ortonville, MN.
Grace was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Merle; husband, Louis; two infant sons and grandson, Tony Clawson.
