    Ethel Steinle, 93, of Butterfield, died on Friday, July 9, 2010 at Pleasant View Good Samaritan Center in St. James.
    Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at First Mennonite Church near Butterfield with Reverend Leroy Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
    Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Sturm Funeral Home in Mountain Lake and will continue for one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
    Ethel Steinle was born on September 11, 1916 to Jacob and Mary (Reimer) Sawatzky in Nelson Township, Watonwan County, Minnesota.
    On November 22, 1934 she was united in marriage to Reinhart Steinle at her home north of St. James. The couple farmed on Reinhart’s family farm until retiring and moving to Butterfield in 1978.
    Ethel was a member of First Mennonite Church near Butterfield and was a long-time member of the Ladies Mission Circle. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, gardening, reading and crossword puzzles. She was known for her Zweibach, watching NASCAR and playing the piano. She especially loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.
    Survivors include her children, R.J. and wife Audrey Steinle of Butterfield, MN, Marilyn Stoesz of Butterfield, MN, Larry and wife Treva Steinle of St. James, MN, Dan Steinle of Butterfield, MN, Lauren and wife Lynette Steinle of Butterfield, MN and Tim Steinle of Butterfield, MN; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; sister, Catherine Olson of St. James, MN; brother, Jake and wife Wanda Sawatzky of Bondurant, IA and sisters-in-law, Marie Sawatzky of St. James, MN and Lorraine Sawatzky of Madelia, MN.
    Ethel was preceded in death by her parents; husband Reinhart in 2006; granddaughter, Cynthia Steinle; great-grandson, Gabriel Madson; brothers, Erwin, Harry and Donald Sawatzky and infant brothers, Albert and Samuel Sawatzky.
