Caroline Anacker, 79, died on Friday, May 15, 2009 at the Pleasant View Good Samaritan Center in St. James, Minnesota.
Funeral services were held on Monday, May 18, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church in St. James with Pastor K. Christian Johnson and Pastor Jon Sorum officiating. The organist was Chris Pitcher and the vocalist was Dennis Hunstad. The pallbearers were Lorraine Hoffman, Shirley Green, Lucy Nelson, Sharon Galles, Marlene Peters, Linda Southworth, Mary Peterson, Elaine Blackstad, Janet Haler, Marge Lewis, Claire Ann Schisler, Gale Friesen and Judith Anderson. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery in St. James.
Visitation was held on Sunday, May 17, 2009 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Pease Funeral Home in St. James.
Caroline Haler was born on July 19, 1929 to John and Frances (Ries) Haler in St. James, Minnesota. She attended rural school districts 52 and 65 near St. James.
On November 9, 1952 she married George Anacker at First Lutheran Church in St. James. She was employed by Leo Lanes, Grain Products Co. and the Shopper’s Guide in St. James. In 1968 they moved to Mankato. She worked as a waitress at Michael’s and D’Annies and later as a sales clerk at Shopko in Mankato. After retirement they moved back to St. James.
Caroline was an active member of the First Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary in St. James and was involved in volunteer work at both. She enjoyed playing cards and visiting with family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, George of St. James, MN; daughter, Joyce Anacker of Reno, NV; sister, Adeline Kubly of St. James, MN; brothers, Lawrence (Ruth) Haler, John (Lora Mae) Haler all of St. James, MN and Walt (Greta) Haler of Elmore, MN and many loved nieces and nephews.
Caroline was preceded in death by her parents.
