Elaine Glienke, 82, of St. James died on Thursday, July 22, 2010 at the Luther Memorial Home in Madelia.
Funeral services were held on Monday, July 26, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. James with Reverend Martin Lopahs officiating. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery in St. James.
Visitation was held on Sunday, July 25, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Sturm Funeral Home in St. James and continued for one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
Elaine Emma Wiederhoeft was born on May 15, 1928 to Emil and Paulina (Wojahn) Wiederhoeft in South Branch Township, Watonwan County, Minnesota. She grew up in South Branch where she attended school at St. John’s Lutheran School and later graduated from St. James High School. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in South Branch.
On May 15, 1953 she was united in marriage to Bernard Glienke at St. John’s Lutheran Church in South Branch. She worked as a secretary at John Deere and then at ST Industries before going to work as a seamstress at St. James Cleaners. She continued sewing after her retirement.
Elaine enjoyed sewing, crossword puzzles and following the Minnesota Twins. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Ladies Aid at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where she held various offices.
Survivors include her husband, Bennie Glienke of St. James, MN; two sons Jeff Glienke of Mankato, MN and James Glienke of Faribault, MN; three grandchildren, Rachel Glienke of St. James, MN, Briana Glienke of St. James, MN and Shyanna Mosser of St. James, MN; sisters, Luverna Kopischke of Huntley, MN and Myrna (Gary) Thomas of Blaine, MN; sisters-in-law, Eunice Wiederhoeft of St. James, MN and Elfrieda Senf of St. James, MN; brothers-in-law, Glenn (Bonnie) Borchert of Morristown, MN, Ken (Audrey) Tate of Mankato, MN and Warner Glienke of Fairmont, MN.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters and three brothers.
