Obert Sigward Jacobson was born on May 30, 1917 to George and Anna Marie (Sletta) Jacobson in Madelia, Minnesota. He grew up in rural Hanska and attended rural schools and graduated from the School of Agriculture, University of Minnesota. He married Mildred Rossbach at Albion Lutheran Church, rural St. James. They farmed in Riverdale Township until retiring and moving into Madelia. In later years he drove school bus, and drove for Watonwan Human Services, Senior Citizens and Dick Olson Motors.
Obert was a member of LaSalle Lutheran Church and a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He had served as treasurer many years at both churches. He also served as clerk for School District #49 and later for the Madelia Public School Board. He was also proud and honored to have played “Taps” for over 400 Veterans as part of the military honors at their graveside services. He also enjoyed woodworking.
