    Donald (the Silver Fox) Current, 81, of Winthrop, Minnesota went to Heaven on Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota due to post-surgical complications.
    A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Faith United Church in Winthrop with Pastor Eric Haugan officiating. Interment will be in Current Cemetery, Home Township, Brown County. The casket bearers will be, Ryan Current, Brian Current, Tim Current, Dean Current, Jim Palm, Steve Bruns and Eugene Zarn. The honorary casket bearer will be Mark Holmen.
    Visitation will be held on Friday, May 22, 2009 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Winthrop. A masonic service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Gathering of family and friends will continue for one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday.
    Donald Wayne Current was born on January 28, 1928 to Paul R. and Ada (Cunningham) Current in Comfrey, Minnesota. He was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth, both at the United Church of Christ in Comfrey. He was a graduate of the Comfrey High School. He served his country in the National Guard during the Korean War. He entered military service on January 16, 1951, and received his Honorable Discharge on May 11, 1952. He achieved the rank of Sergeant First Class.
    On August 16, 1953 he was united in marriage to Esther E. Zarn at First Congregational Church in Comfrey. This marriage was blessed with two children. In October of 1954 the couple settled in Winthrop and shared 51 years of marriage. He was self-employed in financial services. He worked until he was 80 and believed it was his passion to help his friends and clients gain financial independence. His career was also awarded with Top Producer and Presidents Club awards for each company he worked for. He was a true champion of his clients.
    Don was a member of Faith United Church in Winthrop, and was the current chairman of the board. He was also a member of the Sibley Lodge #209 A.F. and A.M., Order of the Eastern Star, the Zuhruh Temple and Hutchinson Saddle Club. He was also on the Current Cemetery Board and was President of Griffin Investments. He enjoyed golfing, dancing, music, horses, investments and cars. He especially loved the time he spent with his children and grandchildren.
    Survivors include his children, RoxAnne Carlson and her husband, Dale of Cokato, MN and Scott Current and his wife, Kim of Chanhassen, MN; grandchildren, Briah Carlson, Ryan and Rachel Current; sister, Myrne Holmen of Crosslake, MN; brother, Richard Current of Mounds View, MN and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    Don was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Ada Current; wife, Esther Current on May 11, 2005; grandson, Austin Current; brother, Lorin Current and brother-in-law, Arlen Holmen.
