Frances Beck, 93, of St. James died on Thursday, August 19, 2010 at Pleasant View Good Samaritan Center in St. James.
Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in St. James with Father Thomas Cook as celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in St. James.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 23, 2010 from 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Sturm Funeral Home in St. James with a rosary at 4:00 p.m. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the services at the church on Tuesday.
Frances Elizabeth Hoscheid was born on January 19, 1917 to John and Elizabeth (Sandmeyer) Hoscheid in St. James, Minnesota. She grew up and attended Catholic School in St. James.
On February 24, 1949 she was united in marriage to Verne (Spike) Beck. They made their home in St. James where Spike worked for the railroad. She (Tubby, as fondly known by her family) was a life long resident of St. James and St. James Catholic Church. She demonstrated her love of cooking by several jobs she held.
Frances enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening, canning, hunting, fishing, bowling and playing cards. She was deeply loved and respected by all her family and friends. Everyone she came in contact with loved her wit and great personality.
Survivors include her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband; brothers, Joe and Frank and sister, Theresa.
