The St. James Area boys basketball team provided another strong showing, defeating the Nicollet Raiders, 78-61.
The Saints used a dominant first half to take a 12 point lead into the dressing room 42-10.
Parker Jones and Kobe Mohwinkel each scored 13 points in the first half to help propel the Saints to their big lead at the break. Mohwinkel was able to connect on a trio of three-pointers in the first half. He would finish with 17 points for the evening, while Jones would lead all scorers with 23. Logan Carlson chipped in seven first-half points for the Saints.
In the second half, the Saints expanded on their lead, leaving no doubt they were the better team. Derrick Halvorson scored eight of his 13 points in the second half.
Lee Hillesheim finished with six points, and Logan Carlson finished in double figures with 10.
Four players from Nicollet scored in double figures, with Riley Hulke, Josh Chadderdon, and Anthony Macias finishing with 10 points.
The Raiders were led by Eric Fischer, who scored 12 of his 13 total points in the second half.
The Saints will tip-off against Redwood Valley on Saturday in the Big South Conference Showcase in Marshall.
