Energy efficiency upgrades to St. James schools earns big rebate

The St. James School District received a big check from the St. James Public Utilities for completing energy saving projects in the District’s buildings. At the ceremony were Joe McCabe, the St. James City Manager; Bob Rinne, the St. James Lighting Supervisor; Mitch Doll, the District’s Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds, Becky Cselovszki, the Superintendent of the School District, and Lisa Fischer of Missouri River Energy Services.

    The City of St. James Public Utilities in conjunction with Missouri River Energy Services presented a check in the amount of $ 15,470.00 to the St. James Public Schools  as part of its Bright Energy Solutions® energy efficiency rebate programs.
    The School District completed upgrades to all schools that included lighting retrofits, motor and pump upgrades, and HVAC upgrades.
    Since 2008, St. James Public Utilities has paid energy efficiency rebates totaling over $26,000.00 to the School District for energy upgrades made to equipment in all three schools.
    City Manager Joe McCabe said, “The St. James Public Utilities is pleased to have ISD #840 provide a leadership role in the area of energy conservation. We commend the District for recognizing the value of installing high efficient equipment that will save energy and money over the life of the equipment.”
    Bright Energy Solutions®, energy efficiency rebates are available to all industrial, commercial and residential customers serviced by St. James Electric Department. For more information on this program contact the St. James Utility office at 507-375-1226.
Business earns energy upgrade rebate
    The Super 8 Hotel in St. James received a check in the amount of $843.00 for installing energy saving upgrades at the hotel.
    The Super 8 General Manager Angela Rathman said the hotel completed lighting upgrades and installed energy mizers on the hotel’s vending machines.  Each vending machine installation will save the hotel about $120 a year on its electric bill.
