On February 25, 2012  eight firefighters from all over the county will come together as a team to climb 660 stairs at the Accenture Tower in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Team members will be raising money to help the American Lung Association fight lung cancer including asthma, second hand smoke damage, emphysema and COPD.
The team is made up of the following individual firemen: Andy Swanson, Jason Monnens, Brad Orvis, Jason Smith, Caleb Curry, Tim Flaata, Joshua Norton, and Jake Sandbo. Other team members may be added as the date draws nearer.
“Our team’s goal will be to raise $5,000, said Andy Swanson. “Last year the team raised $1,080.00.”
The “Fight For Air Climb” times all climbers using state-of-the-art climbing technology to ensure accurate results. Team members do not need to be star athletes to participate. The average climb time for the 600 stairs is under 15 minutes. After the climb, participants relax and enjoy breakfast and refreshments. Climbing to the top is only the start as teams are making a difference and fighting lung disease.
The “Fight For Air Climb” includes two stairclimb options: 30 Floor Climb-Climb 30 floors to the top of the Accenture Tower; The Ultimate Climb, climbing 30 floors as many times as team members are able between 7-8am. Team categories are: Corporate Team Challenge; Fire Department Competitive Challenge; Family and Friends.
Each climber is responsible for his/her own individual registration and fundraising minimum.
