Roger Quick, age 83, of St. James, passed away at his home on Wednesday, July 16, 2014.

Roger Quick, age 83, of St. James, passed away at his home on Wednesday, July 16, 2014. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, July 19, 2014 at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in St. James with Rev. Martin Lopahs officiating. Burial, with full military honors provided by the St. James Veterans Honor Guard, will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in St. James. Roger James Quick was born on the family farm in rural St. James on September 1, 1930, the son of William and Frieda (Froehling) Quick. Roger grew up in St. James and  graduated from St. James High School. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for several construction companies over the years. He enjoyed operating front end loaders and driving truck. On June 24, 1955, Roger was united in marriage to LaDonna Kuehl at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. The couple continued to make their home in St. James where they raised their two daughters. Roger owned his own business for 15 years, served as a County Commissioner for 8 years, was a Korean War Veteran, and retired from the
Minnesota National Guards after 20 years of service. Roger enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He made daily visits to Pleasant View to see his sister, Mildred.

Roger is survived by his wife of 59 years, LaDonna Quick of St. James; daughters, Diane (Allan) Hultgren of Billings, Mont., Lisa Quick of Apple
Valley; brother-in-law, David Kuehl of St. James; sister, Mildred Beck of St. James; grandchildren, Travis (Karen) Hultgren of Bayport, Alex,
Rachel Hultgren of Billings, Mont.; and a great-granddaughter, Selma Hultgren of Bayport.  

He is preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Warren and Howard.
