Dick was born Jan. 19, 1938 in St. James, to Erik and Hazel Jensen. He was a 1956 graduate of St. James High School. After finishing mortuary school in Los Angeles, he returned to Minnesota and assisted his dad, Erik in the funeral and furniture business. From 1980 to 1985, Dick managed the Palm Springs Mortuary. Wanting to be “his own boss again,” he purchased the funeral home in Needles, Calif, in 1986. He also began a funeral home in Ft. Mohave, Ariz. In 2001, Dick and Pat moved to Sierra Vista. In addition to helping son Ryan with his funeral homes, he also worked for Brown Page Mortuary in Douglas. Dick became involved in each community he lived in. He was president of the St. James, Jaycees and the Orange Belt Funeral Directors in Calif. In Needles he was on the planning commission and the board of the Needles Senior Center. He belonged to the Eagles, Rotary, served as an usher and on the board of the Methodist Church. Cars were always a love of Dick’s. For many years he helped Mr.V, auto body instructor at Buena High School, with the student car shows. He drove cars for Lawley Motors.
Dick is survived by his wife, Pat; daughter, Renee Jensen (Gordon Grenier) of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif; son, Ryan Jensen (Kelli) of Sierra Vista, Ariz’; sister, Lorraine Springer of Kalispell, Mont; Grandchildren: Tim, Justin, Collin, Addie, Erik, Gavin and Elizabeth.
