Representatives of the Watonwan County Farm Bureau made their way to Northside Elementary School this past Friday. Their mission was to teach 5th grade children about how agriculture affects everyday life. In total, four classes of approximately 85 students were in attendance for this one-hour presentation. Pig farmer Dustin Anderson was the first presenter of the afternoon. Anderson began his presentation by providing facts about pigs that dispelled any existing myths about the animal. For example, despite pigs being known as rotund creatures, they can actually run a full mile in only seven minutes according to Anderson.
