On Sunday night the St. James boys basketball team put a bow on their season with their annual post season banquet.
The first thing on the agenda was to eat. Everybody had a chance to go through and take their choice of a variety of Pizza Hut pizzas. After everybody had received their food, head coach Alex Hein stood up and thanked everybody involved in the basketball season.
Next, they honored the C-squad players. They went 4-17 on the year, but showed improvement in their last 5 games. The B-squad was also recognized. They went 15-10 on the year. Halfway through the year, two of the B-squad players were moved up to the varsity squad. Even though the team had lost two of their best players, it helped them to learn to play efficiently in the half court. All of the underclassmen were encouraged to take advantage of summer leagues and weight lifting programs in the off-season.
Next up was the Varsity team. In the beginning of the year the Saints were having an up and down season. This continued until they traveled to New Ulm and won, which started an eight game winning streak. The eight game winning streak is the eighth longest winning streak in St. James boys basketball history.
