When new St. James Agriculture Teacher Becky Cronk was in high school in Armstrong Iowa the school did not have an Agriculture program.

With a passion for Agriculture that inspired her to become a Agriculture Teacher so more students have the chance to espoused to AG.

“ I want kids to be able to have Agriculture programs.”

As she begins her first year as a full time teacher Cronk is looking forward to promoting Agriculture to students who are interested in a wide variety of different things.

While many people may think of Agriculture and FFA as classes and programs for people who grew up on farms she is hopeful that she will be able to show students that it’s for students with many different passions and interests.

“ It’s Important for them to know that agriculture isn’t just farming.“

Since joining the St. James community Cronk had her first experiences with the Watonwan County Fair where FFA students participated where she had the chance to meet many of her new students for the first time.

Cronk also had an opportunity to take this year’s Officers on a retreat this summer to Iowa where they went over plans for the upcoming year and also did some fun activities.

The 2018-2019 St. James Officers are President Sara Craig, VP Seth Pierson, Secretary - Kaydi  Anderson - Sentinel - Jacob Runge - Treasurer - Charlie Schmidt - Officer at large Landon McGuire.

As Co Advisor for the St. James FFA she is also looking forward to bringing students to the State Fair where students will be participating the Saturday before Labor Day.

Showing during the State Fair from the St. James FFA will be Seth Pierson Lukas Pierson Noah Wolle Alex Goultz, Austin Spitzner, along with a Dairy Team Judging during the Fair.

Some of the goals that Cronk has for this year is to be able to communicate what is happening with FFA to the community parents and other students and to promote students joining and becoming a part of the very important organization.

Cronk encourages any student interested in joining the St. James FFA to come to the kickoff meeting on September 10.
