An arrest Warrant for Janet Westberg ( 46) was signed on Tuesday morning after one felony charge was filed in Watonwan County Court for Motor Vehicle Theft.
According to the complaint filed, on September 16, Watonwan County Sheriff’s Deputy Nate Ellis took a report of a stolen vehicle. Deputy Ellis spoke with the victims, who stated that Janet Lee Westberg ( 46) had stayed overnight at their house in rural St. James on September, 8. The next day, Janet texted and asked if she could borrow their car. The victims did not respond, but when they got home the car was gone.
Westberg has failed to return the car, despite several requests over the several days following. She had never driven the car and did not have permission to drive it. She eventually blocked the victims’ phone number and stopped communicating with them.
The car is valued at about $2500.
Westberg’s whereabouts are unknown. She has several pending charges in other counties including two felonies.
