Two St. James residents are facing multiple charges after approximately 118 pounds of liquid methamphetamine was found at their residence.
Edward Francisco Soto, 21, and Samantha Jo Korman, 20, both of St. James, were caught in a controlled purchase execution in Mankato.
According to the complaint, on February 28, the Minnesota River Valley Drug Task Force planned to conduct a controlled purchase of approximately one-quarter ounce of methamphetamine from Soto.  Soto agreed to meet a confidential informant in the city of Mankato to complete the purchase.  Under task force agents direction and control, the confidential informant set up a meet location with Soto.
Task force agents observed Soto entering the pre-determined meet area in the city of Mankato as a passenger in a vehicle.  Uniform officers made contact with the vehicle and identified the drive as Korman.
When contact was made with Soto at the passenger door, he became non-compliant, and began to fight with the officers.
Soto was seen dropping a large bag of a white crystallized substance outside the vehicle.  Soto was arrested and the vehicle was searched.  All-together 294.21 grams of methamphetamine was found in the vehicle.  Korman indicated she was aware the two were in Mankato to sell a large amount of meth to someone.
Later that evening, task force agents obtained a search warrant for a residence in St. James where Soto and Korman live.  During execution of the search warrant, agents located approximately 118 pounds of suspected liquid methamphetamine, 404 grams of crystal meth, and a stolen handgun.  The handgun was reportedly stolen was a Waseca County residence in June 2018.
Agents learned that the meth was transported up from Iowa by Solo and Korman.  The house is located in a school zone.
Soto has multiple convictions for controlled substance crimes.  He is currently on probation, and was subject to an arrest warrant following a February 14 failure to appear at a probation violation hearing.
Korman appeared in Watonwan County court on March 5 for a bail hearing.  Unconditional bail was set at $600,000, and bail with conditions was set at $300,000.  Soto is currently being held in Blue Earth County.
Korman is due back in Watonwan County Court on March 19 for a Rule 8 hearing.
