Eunice “Tootie” Penner, 87, of St. James, was called to her eternal rest on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at her home in St. James, surrounded by her family. Visitation and a time of sharing of memories with the Penner family will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Sunday, June 10, at Hosanna Free Lutheran Church in St. James, and one hour prior to the services at the church on Monday. A Celebration of Life Service for Eunice will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 11, at Hosanna Free Lutheran Church of St. James. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in St. James.
Eunice Ingrid Warner was born on Dec. 4, 1930 to Louis and Whilma (Stripling) Warner on a farm in Elm Creek Township, rural Sherburn. She received her education in country school until graduating from Fairmont High School. She attended Beauty School in Fairmont and worked as a Hairdresser. Tootie was united in marriage to Eldo Beckmann. After their marriage they lived in Mankato until moving to St. James in 1962 where they raised their family. On Jan. 7, 1989, she was united in marriage to James “Jim” Penner at Hayward. After their marriage they lived in St. James. Jim died on June 30, 2015. She continued living in her home in St. James until the time of her death. She was a member of Hosanna Free Lutheran Church in St. James and was a charter member of the St. James Ambulance. Tootie was active in the American Red Cross and sold Avon. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cross stitching. Watching the Minnesota Twins, collecting antiques and doing word searches were very important to her.
She is survived by her loving cat, Sasha; three children: son, Warner (Brenda) Beckmann of Lake Crystal, two daughters: Yvonne Flohrs and Larry Flohrs of Trimont, and Christine (Steve) Wolner of Duluth; ten grandchildren: Jaime and Dan Bremseth, Becky Schmidtke and Jason, Cody Flohrs, Jacob Flohrs and his wife, Tiffany, Tiffany and Eric Wirz, Spencer and Kristine Wolner, Ashley and Nate Schwanangel, Elizabeth, Emily and Nolan Beckmann; great-grandchildren: Carter, Carson and Camryn Bremseth, Teya Schmidtke, Mason and Greta Wirz, Gracelyn and Mia Wolner, Jameson and Alexa Schwanangel and other relatives and friends. Tootie was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Eldo Beckmann and Jim Penner and other relatives.
