Minnesota Misfits finish 4-3 at Class B National Tournament
Last week, the Minnesota Misfits— made up of players from around the region— competed in the Class B National Tournament in Davenport, Iowa.
In pool play, the Misfits went 3-1, with convincing victories over Minneapolis Midwest Power #2 (16-4), the Oswego (Ill.) Outlaws (10-0), and the Shorewood (Ill.) Ladybirds (11-4).
The one slip-up in pool play came at the hands of the Knox County (Ill.) Crush 9-1.
The 3-1 record in pool play earned the Misfits the #4 overall seed in the tournament.
The Misfits opened tournament play with a loss against Minneapolis Midwest Power #1 8-7.
A rebound win against Homer Glen (Ill.) 6-5 was highlighted by the Misfits getting out of a bases-loaded jam, and countering with three runs in the next half-inning.
The Misfits tournament run came to an end against the Quad City (Ill./IA) Firebirds 12-5.
James Gang standouts had solid weeks across the board for the Misfits.
Maddie Brey batted .783 (18/23) in the seven games, and had three four-hit performances, including a home run.
Addie Bowers hit .696 (16/23). Mixed in were a 4/4 performance and two 3/4 showings. Bowers also belted a home run.
Taylor Sodeman batted .550 (11/20). Chloe Mickelson hit .375 (6/16), and Kelsey Grunewald hit .250 (5/20).
