Saintettes bring audience around the world
The St. James Saintettes dance team performed their annual Extravaganza on Saturday. After last year’s Extravaganza having a limit on the number of people who could attend, the Armstrong Auditorium was packed for this year’s Extravaganza under the theme of “ Dancing Around the World”.


The Big Sell is coming, but do we really need the hype?
The big game’s a’comin’ and every year there’s a lot of talk about the commercials. Normally commercials are a thing I avoid. During a commercial break, I usually take a stroll or engage in light banter. I might fix a snack or even, on occasion, check the laundry.

Lutefisk Buffet
On Sunday, Jan.9 the Butterfield Community Fund Park Improvement held an all you could eat lutefisk and Swedish meatball buffet with all the proceeds going to the beautiful park being built in Butterfield. It is located on the same block as the Veteran Memorial.

Charles Michael Gaines
WILMINGTON, NC - Charles Michael Gaines died on January 7, 2022 in Wilmington, NC. Mike was born on November 17, 1939 in Olla, Louisiana to the late Cleo Harris Gaines Hinton and the late Charles Rogers Gaines. Following his graduation from LaSalle High School in 1957, he attended the Citadel in Charleston, SC before being graduated from Northwestern Louisiana State College in Natchitoches, LA in 1961. Mike met and married his wife Alice Lillian Voss in 1967 while working in her native Minnesota and from there, they embarked upon life’s journeys together. He worked for decades as a salesman for a variety of companies in multiple locations including St. Paul, MN; Detroit, MI; Richmond, VA; Charlotte, NC and finally Greensboro, NC where he was a founding partner of Tarheel Paper and Supply Company in 1980. He worked at Tarheel until his retirement.
Steinle Law hosts presentation on how to protect yourself from being scammed
Scams are more common and affect more people than people think. St. James community members were able to learn more about scams and how to prevent being scammed. Wes Gilbert from Mankato Computer Technology and Pamela Steinle of Steinle Law collaborated on “The Ten Things To Do In 2022”.

K-9 Maya joins Watonwan County Sheriffs Department
The Watonwan County Sheriffs Department has a new four-legged member. K-9 Maya has joined Deputy Nicholas Kielas to become the department’s new K-9 unit.
