Local 4-H Chapters Receive $9,000 in Donations
The Watonwan, Martin and Cottonwood County 4-H organizations each received $3,000 in donations from South Central Electric Association, Basin Electric Power Cooperative and CoBank. It started as a $1,000 donation from South Central Electric to each of the county 4-H chapters. South Central Electric applied for and received matching funds from Basin Electric, a South Central Electric power supplier and CoBank, a cooperative bank serving vital industries throughout rural America.

Summer is almost here which means it is time for the Watonwan Relay for Life kick off. This year the kickoff will be a breakfast fundraiser at the St.

King and Queen
Pleasant View Good Samaritan Society of St James has a tradition of crowning a king and queen each year in May during National Nursing Home week. While ALL the residents at Pleasant View are considered “kings” and “queens” of amazing lives and perspectives, Kenneth Nelson and Anna Ringen were crowned as 2022-23 King and Queen. Look for them in the upcoming Railroad Days parade on June 25.

Strong hitting and pitching effort by Jones not enough at Redwood Falls
In a Big South Conference rematch on May 10th Redwood Valley responded to an early l St. James Area lead before sewing up a 4-2 win to even the season series. Senior Connor Jones pitched all but the final two outs and was credited with both RBIs after a 4th inning single scored Alex Stresemann and Jesus Moriel.

Honoring our EMTs during appreciation week
National EMT week occurs every may. This week May 15-21 was the week of recognition for all EMTs and what they do for their communities.

Hot Dog Days was a success for local organizations
Hot Dog Days 2022 was a huge success. Seven organizations benefited from the sale of Hot Dogs, Brats, beans, desserts, root beer floats, etc. The event started at 11:00 am and was over with at 1:00 pm. Three of the organizations ran out of Hot Dogs before noon.
