Jones and Olson earn Diamond Honors on Big South List
Selections were shared for the 2022 All-Big South Conference baseball season and St. James seniors Connor Jones and Tanner Olson were among the honorees. The duo shared the team MVP award and each can now claim the All-BSC distinction.
Soccer program gains momentum as head coaches are announced
St. James Area will pair with Windom Area to form a soccer cooperative for the 2022-23 season with Jose Galdamez and Lindsey Power named as head coaches for the respective boys and girls teams. Well over a decade since the St. James/Madelia soccer cooperative, the new venture will be named the Wings and hold practices and events in St. James.

Excellence at Alexandria paves way to Prior Lake for trap team
St. James Area met a lofty goal, finishing in the upper tier of Minnesota trapshooting at the State Clay Target Championships in Alexandria, competing on June 17th. The success will culminate at Prior Lake on June 24th at Prior Lake as the top forty qualifying teams gather to settle the final rankings.

Saints success carried beyond 1972 State Title for Coach Veglahn
St. James gained the support of basketball fans across Minnesota by capturing the 1972 State Title and also defeating the Class AA champion. Reigning as the premiere hoops program in the state also led to a memorable bonus coaching opportunity for “Judge” Veglahn, the skipper for the James Gang.

*Shawn Green, outfielder for the Los Angeles Dodgers once went 6-6 with four home runs, a double, and a single in a game at the Milwaukee Brewers, setting the Major League record with 19 total bases in a single game. He broke the record of Joe Adcock, a player for the Milwaukee Braves, who went 5-5 with four home runs and a double (18 total bases). It’s said that Adcock’s double missed being the only five-homer game in MLB history by inches. This is information that is, for all practical purposes, useless. My brain is full of this garbage. I promise, I’m not looking any of these things up; feel free to do so and correct me if I’m wrong.

At the begining of June the St. James Golf Course, which has been on the market since the fall was purchased by new owners Jason and Jen Kuester.
St. James School Board denies Butterfield-Odin’s request for cooperative sponsorship
The St. James School Board met Monday, June 11 for its June meeting. During the meeting the board discussed electing board members at the November election, 2022-23 budget, and Butterfield-Odin’s request for a cooperative sponsorship.
