Family Living Focus – June is National Dairy Month

How many servings of dairy should I have daily? The current Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommends that all Americans over the age of nine should consume three cups/servings of milk or milk products each day (1 cup of milk, 1 1/2 ounces of natural cheese or 2 ounces of processed cheese equals one serving); two and a half cups per day are recommended for children aged four-eight years; and two cups per day for children aged two-three years. What are the health benefits of dairy foods? Enjoying three servings of dairy foods including milk, cheese or yogurt, is a deliciously easy way to help build stronger bones and healthier bodies because together, these foods provide a powerful package of nutrients.

Railroad Days Grand Marshall announced by St. James Railroad Days Committee

The St. James Railroad Days Committee is pleased to announce that this year’s Grand Marshall will be Senator Julie Rosen. Senator Rosen has proudly served the St. James area in the Minnesota Senate for six terms. She has worked across with legislators to advance the bill for the Vikings Stadium in addition to working on bonding bills which have significantly impacted the City of St. James.

Minnesota State Parks become more accessible

Minnesota DNR and State Parks worked together to bring accessibility to five state parks throughout the state: Camden State Park, Crow Wing State Park, Lake Bemidji State Park, Maplewood State Park, and Myre-Big Island State Park. All terrain chairs will be available for visitors with mobility disabilities. Each park, besides Maplewood State Park, will have all terrain chairs available for visitors with mobility disabilities this summer.
