Theater program raises funds for Little Theater
On Thursday, July 21, the Theater and Arts Board provided an evening of theater and music to raise money for needed renovations in the Little Theater at the high school. The Board organized an evening performance entitled “Let us Entertain you.” which featured local talent providing music and one act plays.

Duel with Jackson decides trip to Legion State Tournament
Battling through the consolation bracket, St. James earned a rematch with Jackson, their opening foe, on Saturday, July 23, at Veterans Field in St. James. Needing to win two games to qualify for State, Post #33 captured the opening contest 9-3 after jumping to a 5-0 lead but dropped the deciding game 5-3 and Jackson left with the ticket to State.
Ask a Trooper – Extended carrier laws
Question: I see vehicles go by with extended carriers attached to their hitch with several full gas cans. We discuss what could happen if a driver was not paying attention and ran into one such vehicle. How safe can this be? are there any laws in place that makes this unlawful?

Night to Unite is Aug. 4
A community gathering with music, food and fun—Night to Unite—is all set for Thursday, Aug. 4 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Memorial Park (north shelter). This event for all ages is a great time to visit with friends and neighbors and meet new friends.
The little sand piles caused pause
The little piles were piling up. Twas chilly while walking doggie today. She made her way up, down, and through the meandering pathways and as I followed, I watched her pause. Taken aback, I noticed her sniffing the fresh little mounds of sand with a hole in each center upon the gravel road. As she sniffed, I reigned in the leash so she would not destroy the handiwork of the worker ants who’d made their presence known. I breathed a sigh of relief when she quickly lost interest in them.

Deephaven - Lowell P. Froslan, 75, of Deephaven passed away on December 23, 2021. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Eagles in St. James from 2 - 5 p.m. on Friday, July 29. Graveside services, with military honors, for Lowell and his wife Diane will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at Marcus Amherst Cemetery in Marcus, Iowa. Rev. Tennis tournament keeps courts busy
The St. James Open Tennis Tournament brought together a wide range of players from different locations for competition on the courts by St. James Area High School during July 22-24. Results follow for each of the placings in the respective divisions.
