Fire departments get Buddy Bears
Rolling Prairie Chapter of A.B.A.T.E of Minnesota presented the Butterfield Fire Department with Buddy Bears to hand out when they have a situation with children involved. The group also presented bears to the Jackson, Madelia and St. James fire departments. Submitted

Teams gather to mark 50th Anniversary of unmatched accomplishment
St. James marks 1972 as a magical year when no foe found a victory against either the Saints wrestling or basketball teams. An invitation from the St. James Wrestling Hall of Fame reunited the legendary hardcourt team members and grapplers on July 16 at the St. James VFW.
Legion starts championship round with wins over R-T-R and Luverne
The local Legion sluggers began the long trek in pursuit of a ticket to State by knocking off Russell-Tyler-Ruthton 3-1 on Friday, July 22 at Veterans Field in St. James. The victory was immediately followed by a 3-2 triumph over Luverne that same night.

The 2022 summer recreation baseball program found success with a new format and culminated the season with playoff games and awards on Friday, July 22. NuWay/ K&H defeated Pioneer Bank in the opening round and Siem Construction came out on top in a close 4-3 championship game with NuWay/K&H.

Wilson named HRA Executive Director
Melissa Wilson has spent over two decades working to improve public housing for the St. James community. The board of directors for the St. James Housing Redevelopment Authority (HRA) recently named her Executive Director with duties that support housing opportunities for 70-unit Park Apartments and eight houses in the city.

St. James Area High School Ag educator is selected as best in Minnesota
The Minnesota Association of Agricultural Educators (MAAE) named Becky Cronk as the 2022 Outstanding Early Career Teacher at their banquet on July 13, held at Jackpot Junction in Morton. Cronk is an Agriculture Instructor at S. James Area High School and Advisor for the FFA program.
